A couple days ago I gave a slice of what I think will happen in Saturdays 1st round but now i am just going to give you a quick little Detroit Lions only mock. This is more along the lines of what I want to happen which may actually work out. Rumor has it that the Lions have agreed to a steal of a contract with Aaron Curry, paying him less than what Jake Long received last year as the #1 overall pick. Now this could either be a smokescreen and the lions are trying to pressure Stafford to sign a smaller contract than expected or they seriously might make my day. It might have helped when at the unveiling of the new and not very improved uniforms and logo press confrence, the fans were chanting "Curry" and "Don't draft Stafford". So here is my 7 round dream raft for the Lions.
Pick 1, Round 1 - Aaron Curry, MLB - Wake Forest
Pick 20, Round 1 - Malcolm Jenkins, CB/S - Ohio State
Pick 33, Round 2 - Alex Mack, C - California
Pick 65, Round 3 - Travis Beckum, TE - Wiscosin
Pick 82, Round 3 - Sammie Lee Hill, DT - Stillman
Pick 174, Round 6 - Brandon Tate, WR/KR - UNC
Pick 192, Round 6 - Henry Melton, DE - Texas
Pick 255, Round 7 (Comp Pick) - Alex Boone, OT - Ohio State
This would gie us a solid foundation on D and some more weapons to add to our allready decent offense. Mack will improve the interior O-line while Beckum will give us a receiving threat from the TE position for the first time since David Sloan.
