Working on Spring Training 2010 trip, aka knees on bows in the sunshine state. Take it to the head like a hand full of excedrin.

Barry Bonds 2001

I had mentioned earlier that I didn't think that I could find a TB/out ratio better than Babe Ruth's amazing 1.34. Well, I have found one. Barry Bonds record breaking 2001 season produced an astonishing TB/out of 1.83. I have not seen a TB/out ratio anywhere close to this. The next closest I have seen is the 1.34 TB/out that I previously mentioned Ruth put up. More to come later on other TB/out findings.

I will also try to post this week's matchups in the mythical college football national championship tournament. In the meantime, holla at some late night Red Wings action tonight as they take on the Canucks at 10 pm EST in Vancouver. I will be enjoying a gasoline sandwich while watching the game.

Anyone interested in wagering on the East Carolina @ Memphis game tonight, my 4-component CFB equation has East Carolina as about a 5 point favorite. Enjoy.

The Pistons first game is tomorrow against the Memphis Grizzlies. I'm looking forward to seeing the new and hopefully improved Stones lineup. If anyone has any NBA insights please comment on the blog and bring some biz.

One last item: Eddie and I are trying to put together the 2010 edition of the Rod Allen Drinking Game so if you have any suggestions for new rules pleast post a comment or send me an e-mail to phatsix@hotmail.com. Holla and go Wings tonight! Get the task force and rum dum it.

Points of interest

First off, let me begin by saying I'm veey proud of my McGuyver like skills that I demonstrated early Saturday morning when I broke into my apartment. It was a poor manuever to lose my keys in the first place but I redeemed myself with the clutch break in ability.

The 8 ball and I were back at it Sunday, and we both correctly picked the Yankees to defeat the Angels. I am now 14-10 in predictions and the spherical piece of garbage is 10-14.

The college football mythical national championship continued and here are the results from Saturday:

Oregon 29 Virginia Tech 0
Iowa 10 LSU 21
Cincinnati 31 Florida 10
Ohio State 53 Kansas 0
Miami 0 Penn State 28
Boise State 45 Alabama 3
TCU 31 Texas 34
Oklahoma State 27 USC 6

Teams eliminated: Iowa, Kansas, Alabama, USC

Enjoy your Monday and always remember to fiddle for fun. Holla!

Off to the tailgate with G-Mode. Holla!

Walking A-Rod with 2 outs and nobody on was not very smart by the Angels.

The Iron Horse

I have been searching for a player who may have had a season as offensively efficient as Babe Ruth in 1921 and I came across Lou Gehrig's 1927 season. While it wasn't quite as spectacular as Ruth's 1.34 TB/out in 1921, Gehrig's 1.16 TB/out in the 1927 season is still quite spectacular. Gehrig's 1927 season was slightly better than what Joe Mauer (1.14 TB/out) put up this year in what is quite possibly an MVP season for Mauer. I will continue to search for a season that was more offensively dominant than Ruth's 1921 performance. Holla!

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

In 1921 Babe Ruth produced 1.34 total bases per out he made-one of the most amazing offensive seasons ever. Not sure if there is better but I'll search.

Both the 8 ball and myself look to get back on track by picking the Sharks to beat the Rangers tonight. I have lost 3 in a row while the 8 ball has lost 4.
Results from saturdays mythical national championship tournament: Cincinnati over Ohio State, Miami over Boise State, and TCU over USC.

Tim McCarver is a moron.
The Phillies are probably wishing they had Polanco still after Utley threw away his second DP in as many days.

Round 1 results:

Florida beat Kansas by 5
Texas beat Oklahoma State by 19
Virginia Tech beat Iowa by 32
Oregon beat LSU by 14
Penn State beat Alabama by 30

.... More results to come
YES! I have once again put the 8 ball to shame and out picked it. I correctly picked the Avalanche to beat the Maple Leafs and moved 4 games ahead of the loser

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

I moved to 11-7 by correctly picking the Dolphins to beat the Jets last night. The filthy 8 ball also picked the game right to remain 3 games back. Go Wings!!
The 2009 college football mythical national championship tournament has begun. It is a 16 team, double elimination tournament. More to come in following posts.

Monday, October 12, 2009

Both the 8 ball and I incorrectly picked the Rockies to defeat the Phillies. I continue to dominate the ball with number 8 on it. My lead is 3 games.

Sunday, October 11, 2009

Both the 8 ball and I correctly picked Florida to beat LSU and that they did. I stayed 3 games ahead of the annoying 8 ball.

Saturday, October 10, 2009

Lets go Red Wings!!!
I'm in absolute awe of Tiger. 4 iron 229 yards to 7 feet. Wow!
I have outsmarted the 8 ball once again and now hold a 3 game lead over that pathetic loser. I correctly picked the Hurricanes to beat the Panthers. Holla!

Friday, October 9, 2009

Finally! I ended my lengthy 2-game losing streal by correctly picking the Angel to defeat the Red Sux and in the process bamboozled the 8 ball.

Get in that mustache!

Flip vs. The Magic 8 Ball

I apologize for not updating the sports prognostication battle between myself and the 8 ball but I was and still am in mourning from my beloved Tigers' season ending loss to the stinky Twinkies. To bring you up to speed the 8 ball correctly picked the Dodgers to defeat the Cardinals last night and has now moved within a game of me in the pick 'em challenge. My armpits are beginning to get a little sweaty. There is no way I can allow myself to lose to a piece of plastic floating in a larger piece of plastic.

Go Wings tonight!!!

I appologize for saying the Tabbies tiebreaker game was on ESPN. The game will be on TBS today at 5 pm EST. Drink 10 everytime Leyland is shown on camera.
Thanks Amy for checking out Kneesonbows. Just wanted to assure you that even Penguin fans are welcome.
Not to brag or anything but I have a two game lead over that piece of sheist 8 ball
I'm in a little bit of a tailspin now having lost my 2nd consecutive game. I picked the Canucks to beat the Blue Jackets. I was way off, so was 8 ball.

Monday, October 5, 2009

Baseball can be summed up in one word: you never know.
Never fully realized the pure joy of whistling the Saved by Bell theme song til today
One rule that was sent to me was: Drink everytime they show the crowd waving those dousche rags. This rule could really give you the biz but I like it.
Given the enormity of tomorrows Tabbies- twinkies tiebreaker game I thought I would take some ideas for RADG rules minus Rod since the game is on ESPN.

8-Ball Gaining Ground

The magic 8 ball correctly picked the Jaguars to defeat the Titans and has now moved within 2 games of me. I must give credit where credit is due, the 8-ball is a lucky chunk of plastic. There, I said my peace and now I have to go and buy a case of Tums for the Tabbies huge tiebreaker game in that sheisthole metrodome.

Holla! One more time! Let's Go Tigers!

Flip vs. The Magic 8 Ball

After dominating the 8 ball yesterday, I look to push my lead to 4 games. I picked the 0-3 Titans to get their first win over the Jaguars and the lousy 8 ball picked the Jaguars to win.

I may be letting the magic 8 ball pick my fantasy hockey lineup one week later this season. The reason I'm doing this is because I have no idea who most of my players are, let alone how to pronounce their names. Ok, I'm not going to beat around the bush, I pretty much only know the Red Wings and that Cindy Crosby fella cuz they speak of his girlish figure so much out here in Pittsburgh. Anyways those are the thoughts on the future of my fantasy hockey squad.

Holla!

Saturday, October 3, 2009

One more very important note, I pulled ahead of the 8 ball by picking Sparty to beat the weasels. Make that a 3 game lead for Flip over the 8 (dirt) ball.
A very poor trip to Sweden for the Wings. No points. That hurts.
The big ten network does not have the first down line. What are they broadcasting their games in, 80's technology?
BOOOO matt millen! That's all I have to say.
Another coat tail victory for the 8 ball. But the good news is I improved my record to 6-3 and I am still 2 games up on that bastard 8 ball.

Don't be mad Millsy

Millsy I had to do it. The Blackhawks predicted win percentage was too high not to take them in this afternoon's hockey game against the Panthers. Please forgive me, I'm ashamed and if I win the wager I will purchase you a pumpkin ale. On a better note, the Wings open their season today and I'm super excited like those teenage girls at a Taylor Swift concert.

Go Tigers!!! Beat the sux! Holla!

Flip vs. 8 Ball Update

Both the 8 ball and myself incorrectly picked the Sharks. A bad news bears Thursday, first the Tabs lose then I can't even pick a stinkin hockey game correctly. I'll bring the biz today, I promise. But I also expect the Tabs to as well. Don't forget the Wings begin their season today @ 3 pm EST in Sweden.

Flip (5-3)
8-Ball (3-5)

A little spice

The pick 'em challenge has added a little spice as it takes to the ice this evening with the game of the day. The game we will be predicting is the Sharks/Avalanche hockey match. This is where the excitement ends because the 8 ball once again has managed to get under my skin by selecting the same team (Sharks) as me. So after the Sharks are victorious the 8 ball will have been carried to another correct pick via Flip.

On a separate note, it's rally time for the Tabs! Let's holla at some runs. We're down 8-2 to the dirty twinkies. Go Tigers!!!!!
It's time to do work Butta Lewis. We gotta deliver the biz to Millsy's squad this week. I see ya Ray Finkle and I'm not liking what you're doing. Holla.
What do ya know? The 8 ball got a pick correct but only cause it copied me by picking the Reds to beat the Cardinals. My record now stands at 5-2, 8 ball 3-4.
